Our Foundation
Our Core Values
Our Beliefs
All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21). The Holy Scriptures provide direction for living, and lighting the pathway for those who believe and obey its instruction (Ps. 119:105).
The scriptures declare that there is but one God: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one Lord” (Deut. 6:4). “I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me” (Isa. 45:5). He is the Creator of Heaven and Earth, and all living things, visible and invisible. Father in Creation, Son in Redemption, and Holy Ghost [indwelling Spirit] (Rom. 8:11).
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh” (1Tim. 3:16). “And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). He was mentioned in prophesy – as “Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6). Jesus is the Son of God according to the flesh (Rom. 1:3), and God Himself according to the Spirit (Matt.1:23). “In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Col. 2:9-10).
In His creation, the word declares that “the Spirit of God moves upon the face of the waters” (Gen.1:2). The angel told Mary: “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee…” (Luke 1:35). The Holy Spirit is not a third person in the Godhead. He is the spirit of the resurrected Christ, the Comforter, Sustainer, and Keeper of all believers who obey the gospel (John 14:16-26).
Salvation is the result of God’s grace towards mankind. “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son” (John 3:16). “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph. 2:8). To receive God’s free gift of salvation, we must believe in the name of Jesus Christ, accept His teachings and believe that His death, burial and resurrection was for our salvation. “But as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12). It is the responsibility of man to live above sin through the enablement of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 5 and 6).
Water baptism is an essential part of the New Birth, and the entering into the Kingdom of God (John 3:5). Water baptism is to be administered only by immersion. We are buried with Him (Jesus Christ) by baptism (Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12). We baptize in the Name of Jesus Christ, because it is Apostolic in origin and practice (Acts 2:38; 8:12-17; 10:47-48; 19:1-6). Jesus commanded His disciples, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matt. 28:19).
Baptism of the Spirit represents resurrection and newness of life (Rom. 6:4; 8:9-11). We believe the initial sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is speaking with new tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (Acts 2:1-4; 10:46; 19:6). It was prophesied by Joel (Joel 2:28-29) and Isaiah (Isa. 28:11), foretold by John the Baptist (Matt. 3:11), and promised by Jesus Christ to His disciples (John 14:26; 15:16).
We are bestowed with spiritual gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, working miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, diverse tongues, interpretation of tongues (1 Cor.12:7-11). These are primarily demonstrated through the operation of the Five- Fold Ministry (Eph. 4:7-16).
The ordinance of the Lord’s Supper is observed in remembrance of our Lord to show forth His suffering and death (Luke 22:1-22). This ordinance includes unleavened bread, fruit of the vine (Matt. 26:26-29; 1Cor. 11:24-32), and feet washing (John 13:4-17; 1Tim. 5:10).
In keeping with the Holy Scriptures, marriage was instituted by God at the beginning of creation and, as such, is an exclusive, lifelong union between one man and one woman, as He created them. (Gen. 1:27-28; 2:18, 21-24) It is an institution which unites one man and one woman to become “one Flesh” (Matt. 19:4-6). It is the bedrock of the family and society to ensure continuity of humankind. God’s clear plan and intent is that marriage be a permanent relationship severed only by death. (Gen. 2:24; Matt. 19:4–6; 1 Cor. 7: 10, 11)
It is our duty to be in obedience to the requirements of the law, except where contrary to the Word of God. Civil magistrates are ordained of God for peace, safety, and the well-being of all people (Rom. 13:1-10). In upholding these, we pay tribute, or such taxation as may be required without murmuring, and show respect to them in all lawful requirements of civil government (Matt. 17:24-27; 22:17-21).
